The Continuing Saga: 1971 Topps [1st Complete Page Edition]
As I was putting my latest additions to my 1971 Topps set in my binder I discovered that I had completed my first entire page...so here it is folks...cards 235-243...I'm so proud...they've come so far!

Show and Tell #11: Pursuit of the 80's(ness) Edition
Jack from Pursuit of the 80's(ness) sent me a box of Mariners including the awesome sticker above...how could they ever get rid of the trident logo?Along with some great base cards, Jack sent three "hits"...
First up is an auto of Jeff Harris who has pitched in 11 big league games, the last being in 2006. He is currently signed with the Indians.
The auto was followed by two Artifacts Felix Hernandez jersey cards...I'm hoping that things click for Felix this year and he can break out of the funk he was in last year...
Mayo From Bozeman Breaker
Bozeman Breaker unloaded his excess Mayo cards on me this week and I tried to help him finish up on some Allen & Ginter sets...I'm making some nice progress on my needs list and I've got a lot auction from eBay that should be coming in soon...
This card has to be my favorite card that is actually in my possession. I like this one but I haven't actually seen it in person yet...but to be honest I probably prefer Sir Arthur over the Big Mitt anyway.

Greg's head looks oddly out of proportion on his card...he's like a turtle sticking his neck out...

Steve from Wait 'Till Next Year sent me a couple of '71 Topps from the needs list...in return he'll get some from his '70 needs list...it's nice when things work out like that...Here are the cards:
#16 Ken Singleton
I love this card...Ken has been pretty much unknown to me until recently...he was a three time All-Star and finished 3rd and 2rd in MVP voting in 1977 and 1979 when he was with the Baltimore Orioles.
#105 Tony Conigliaro
Some nice airbrushing.
#110 Bill Mazeroski
After winning the 1960 World Series, Bill went on to sell razors for Gillette:
#330 World Series Game 4
This would could have been entered into Dinged Corners call for great examples of "text on cards." It is not quite as good as the next card in the series for Game #5 in which "B. Robinson Commits Robbery."

Fear Strikes Out's Roomate
I have a handful of the original 1959 Topps cards but this one is in the best condition by far. The orange is so nice and bright it feels like it was pulled from the wax pack today.
Ted played 10 season, most of them with the Boston Red Sox. He played about 75 games a season mostly as a platoon infielder.
But he is best known as Jimmy Piersall's roommate in Fear Strikes Out.

Show and Tell #10: For No Other Reason Than...
I've been wanting a Dale Murphy relic or auto for a while and finally stumbled upon this bat card a little while ago. The card is a little weird with Dale's tongue sticking out but that's what I like about it.
I am personally very liberal when it comes to letting people into the Baseball Hall of Fame...If Duke Snider and Jim Rice are Hall of Famers than Dale deserves it as well. In this era when statistics are inflated for unsportsmanlike reasons, I think it is important to recognize the players that had long, successful, and great career without steroids.
Justin is currently sitting at #485 on the list of home run hitters tied with Russell Branyan, Mack Jones, and Frank Malzone...just thought you should know.
Along with Ken Griffey Jr., Kaz Matsui holds the distinction of being one of two players to ever hit home runs in their first plate appearances in three consecutive seasons [2004, 2005, 2006]. Given that Ken Griffey Jr. currently has 611 home runs and Kaz has 23, I'm a little more impressed with Kaz's feat.
Patterson retired earlier this year after battling arm problems for the past two years.
This on-card autograph is from Mark from Stats on the Back. Jerry Narron was a catcher for the Mariners, Angels, and Yankees and was the catcher called up from the minors to replace Thurmon Munson when he was killed in 1979.
This one is from dayf as part of the "guaranteed auto" in a repackage he put together for me...Chris Snelling was drafted by the Mariners and that's why dayf included this card...he now plays for the Padres in the minors but did compete in the World Baseball Classic for the Australian team...
Last but not least, we have a piece of Bert "Be Home" Blyleven" jersey...is it safe to say he is the greatest major leaguer ever from the Netherlands?

I am embarrassed to say that I have completely forgotten who sent me these two Tommy Johns...Night Owl...gcrl...I'm looking in your direction...
X-Fractors:
This one is from Amarillo Jeff of "Oh my God, you sent the greatest card ever" fame. Besides being an X-Fractor, this card is a two-for-one as we have Big Papi waiting on deck...
Diamond Kings:
This one is from eBay...all I ask from Panini is that they produce at least one set a year that has Diamond Kings in it!
