Show and Tell #66: The Joy Of A Completed Insert Set

It's great when you get sent a complete insert set of cards that you love and only sort of realized existed. Ryan from the "O" No! Orioles Blog sent me some great illustrated cards from the 1990 Bowman set. These are contest cards inserted into wax packs that give you a chance to win a lithograph set of all the cards featured. In total, there are 11 cards in the set and Ryan sent me the entire group.

I wondered if the artist, Chris Pursley, was sort of an Bowman alternative to the immortal Dick Perez so I did some searches and found next to nothing about him. Searching "Chris Pursley artist" and even "1990 Bowman Chris Pursley" doesn't give me much information at all and so I'm not sure what to think.

My favorite of the group is the Don Mattingly card. Thank for sending them Ryan!

Wow that is a pretty sweet insert set. I am partial to the Gooden.

You're definitely welcome for the cards. I saw that they were art cards and I thought they would be right up your alley. If anybody has a need for some of them, I still have a bunch.

I believe Craig Pursley is the man you seek.
