Justin Verlander came up three innings short from matching Johnny Vander Meer's record of two consecutive no-hitters...but if there was ever a pitcher to tie the record it should have been Verlander who is the only other pitcher with more than one no-hitter with the last name starting with "V." Verlander and Vander Meer...it just should have been.
