That's Smoky without the "e" ladies...Setting aside Minne Minoso and his return to baseball for a game every ten years or so, Smoky Burgess [along with Curt Simmons who also retired the same year as Smoky] was the last player to have played in the 1940's. Smoky was a rookie with the Cubs during the 1949 season and retired in 1967 with the White Sox.
