Vintage Legends Countdown #49: 1969 Topps Ozzie Smith

**In this series, I am counting down my personal favorite cards in the 2010 Topps Vintage Legends insert series from #50 to #1.**

The #49 position has Ozzie Smith in the 1969 Topps design. Ozzie's has the bad luck of being, in my opinion, too new a player to be a "vintage legend."

Beyond that though, this card has some slight problems that don't jive with the 1969 version. First of all, that dame trade mark sits right on Ozzie's leg and is so painfully visible while on the original cards no trademark was included.

Also, as you can see from this original Bob Gibson on the '69 version they were not called the "CARDINALS" instead they were the "CARDS." And so this card gets a poor score for historical accuracy.
