J.R.

J.R. Richard only got ten seasons in the big leagues. He should have had more. As a full-time starter he only had five full seasons. Even so, he was able to notch 107 wins and who knows how many more if he could have had a full career. J.R. was struck down my a stroke during pre-game warm-ups in 1980 and although he would try to make a comeback to the majors a few years later he would never pitch in a major league game again.

I think of J.R. today with all the debate about Armando Galarraga's near perfect game. It's seems that life just has it in for you sometimes and there really isn't anything that you can do about it.
