Lost Numbers Series: 1971 Topps

Today we begin a new series in honor of the final season of one of the best television shows ever, Lost. As the final season is winding down many of the key mysteries are being answered including [hopefully] the meaning of the Lost numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. The numbers that Hurley played in the lottery and became a millionaire. The numbers that Desmond had to enter into a computer every 108 minutes to stop the end of the world.

We will take some of my completed/semi-completed sets and give them the Lost treatment and look at cards 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 and look for some common thread running through them. What are the connections? Did they meet earlier in their lives?

We begin with my 1971 Topps set.

Card #4 Vic Davalillo

Card #8 Mike McQueen

Card #15 Andy Messersmith

Card #16 Ken Singleton

Card #23 Oscar Gamble

Card #42 Boots Day

This is a little harder than I thought it would be. Do you, Dear Reader, see anything?

Maybe we can cross 1971 Topps off the "Candidate List":
