GCRL recently sent me a nice brick...I mean box...of Royals and Mariners and here are some highlights:
2009 Topps Finest #116 Felix Hernandez Blue Refractor 119/399
I didn't open any Finest this year after opening a few mini-boxes last year so this was a welcome surprise. If Topps could only invent a manufacturing process that would make the Finest cards so that they didn't bend on themselves over time that would be great.
2009 Upper Deck X #41 Alex Gordon
It's the same situation with Upper Deck X. I collected the set in 2008 but in 2009 I didn't. I think mainly that is because I didn't see 2009's X in Walmart or Target very much as I am never able to get to my "local" hobby shops.
2009 Topps Turkey Red #TR54 Alex Gordon
A Gordon insert that I didn't have yet. It's hard to find a player that has disappointed collectors as much as Alex. If he could play an entire season without injury he would probably average about 20-25 homers and 80-90 RBIs but I'm afraid it's never going to happen.
2007 SP Rookie Edition #128 Brandon Morrow
2007 SP Rookie Edition #268 Brandon Morrow
Two rookie cards for the ex-Mariner Brandon Morrow. He was the Mariners 1st round pick from 2006 [#5 overall] right before Andrew Miller and Clayton Kershaw and five spots ahead of Tim Lincecum. He was mainly used as a middle reliever by the Mariners and just a few weeks ago sent him packing to the Blue Jays in a trade.
Thanks GCRL and I have some Dodgers that will be heading your way shortly.
