Volcano Choir -- "Island, IS"
I've got to say that 2009 was not really a great year for new bands. Every year I really look forward to Pitchfork's list of the year's best songs if for no other reason then to discover great songs by groups I've never heard of. But it seems to me that all the year's great songs are from established indie artists like Animal Collective, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix, Grizzly Bear, etc...and the songs from the newbie groups just don't do it for me.
So I went back to an old favorite from 2008, Bon Iver, and his collaboration with a band called Collection of Colonies of Bees. Both groups are from my home state of Wisconsin and so when I heard they would combine to form a group called Volcano Choir I was in from the word go. This is the video for their song "Island, IS"
