Heartbreaking Packs: O-Pee-Chee 2008-09 Hockey

I've been eyeing these for a while as I had been thinking of trying to get into hockey cards again. This O-Pee-Chee set has over 600 cards in it believe it or not and I purchased three packs yesterday...Here are some of the highlights:

You know, one has to wonder why card companies don't use the insert designs for the regular cards and use the regular designs for the inserts...or just abandon the inserts all together...If the entire set looked like this Legends insert I would buy a whole lot more. The same goes for this year's Upper Deck X set. A set made up entirely of the Xponential inserts would have been possibly my favorite of the year.


I enjoy these blue bordered cards which seem to be one per pack.

I've found no-frills jumbo packs at the Canadian Wal-marts and I love them. FOr six dollars I get 38 cards with no hope of an autograph, game-used or buyback. It's the first current hockey set I've purchased in probably five years and I'm really loving it. It's not the best design, but it's a set-collecting dream that I hope carries over into a baseball product next year.
