BREAKING NEWS: Baseball Card Company's Product Works Exactly As It Should

To blow some of my Christmas money I bought a Hobby Box of 2008 Upper Deck Sweet Spot [from Three Star Sportscards in the Twin Cities] and a Retail Sweet Spot tin from Target. And believe it or not, the products worked out exactly as they should [in my opinion].

The Hobby version is $20.00 and contains eight cards of which one of them is either an autograph or relic card. The Retail version runs at $29.99 and contains three packs of eight cards of which one card is an auto or relic. The Hobby version comes in a box while the Retail version comes in a tin.

Here's some shots of the base cards:

Each pack also contains one Yankee Stadium Legacy card:

And finally, what we all came to see:

From the Retail pack:

From the Hobby pack:

The Retail pack gives me an unnumbered single color patch of a future Hall of Famer while the Hobby version gives me a numbered [6/25] card with each patch being two-colored and part of the numbers of the three best catchers in the league. This is how it's supposed to work.

You got da pope! Sweet!

that patchy thing is nice, but it's missing the best catcher in the league ;)

Yeah Dayf is right, it doesn't have Carlos Ruiz.

Appparently Ruiz graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Magazine 3 times this year. that is more times than Tiger or Michael Phelps.

Apparently I missed you by a half-hour; you had just stopped in before me, and he said you had dropped by. He was sorry to hear you were a Royals fan...

other than Posada not being in the top 5 catchers, and Martin not even being the best catcher in the NL... that was pretty sweet...

Wow, who knew an off hand comment about catchers would be the most controversial thing I've said on the blog this year! 8-)

Eric,

That would have been some cool karma to meet at the shop...I went to Three Stars and the Field of Dreams store too [which I'll write about in a little bit]..you were right about that shop though...way over priced.
